The resort is located on the shores of Lake Turkana, the largest permanent desert lake in the world. Being also the
largest alkaline lake in the world, it boasts the most productive acquatic environments on earth. There are three
islands on the lake, the North Island, Central Island and South Island.
Scenary and History
Central Island is home to three major volcanic lakes; one home to Tilapia Fish, 2nd home to a great number of the Nile
crocodiles and third home to thousands of flamingoes. Elephants, leopards Oryx antelopes, gazelles and warthogs can be
seen within the South Turkana national reserve. On the eastern side of the lake is Sibiloi National park, where the
most significant archaeological findings of pre- and early manhood were made earning Turkana Land the title Cradle of
Humanity. A monument and brass replica of a Homo Erectus Skeleton discovered at the site can be visited.
The culture of people in Turkana is beautiful and colorful. Unique dressings, hairstyles, jewelry, sayings, tales,
songs, artisanship and knowledge vivify it.
